On 18 October 2007 there was the first meeting of the Coordinating Methodic Council under the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan on improvement of vocational training of election organizers and on legal education of population.
Coordinating Methodic Council, comprising of representatives of state bodies and other organizations, operating in the fields of civil education and electoral process, is aimed on active participation in development and implementation concepts, projects and programs on improvement of voters’ legal culture, development of their social activity and civil responsibility, and vocational training of organizers of elections.
“Principal task is organization of permanent and single-minded legal training of all subjects of electoral process” – Tatyana Okhlopkova, the Chairperson of Coordinating Methodic Council and Member of Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan stressed.
One of directions in the activities of Coordinating Methodic Council is taking part in organization and preparation of thematic round table conferences, seminars, workshops, meetings and other events to be organized by Central Election Commission, non-governmental organizations and other institutions of civil society in the field of legal education. Thus members of Coordinating Methodic Council will take part in the work of round table conference “Improvement of legal cultures of voters in Kazakhstan” to be conducted on 1 November 2007 in Almaty. This event is organized within the framework of the CEC and UNDP Project “Development of Electoral Culture of Population in Kazakhstan”.
The Project provides allocation of means for conduction of first national competition for students of higher education institutes of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the field of election law. It is expected that competition will be conducted from December 2007 till March 2008.
Draft action plan of the Coordinating Methodic Council for 2008 to be adopted taking in account opinions of the members of the Council was also discussed at the meeting.
