On June 27, 2007 the session of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan, where there were added changes and additions to some earlier taken decisions, was held.
In particular the term “electoral blocks”, and also the term “district commissions for election of deputies of Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan” were excluded from Decrees of the Central Election Commission.
District electoral commissions for the election of the deputies of Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan were ceased since the Constitutional Act “On Elections in the Republic of Kazakhstan” doesn’t provide establishment of constituencies for election of the deputies of Mazhilis.
According to the current electoral legislation 98 deputies of Mazhilis shall be elected on the basis of party lists, and 9 mazhilismen shall be elected by the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan.
Also in connection with necessity to bring the present normative legal base in the conformity with amendments to the electoral legislation, the Central Election Commission made a decision in respect to earlier accepted decrees of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan, which lost their actuality as they lost its force.
