The local executive bodies of Eastern Kazakhstan region are currently in the process of completion of the activities on compiling and correction of the voters’ list as well as detailed maps of the polling stations. 13,411 additional records were entered into the voters’ lists in the course of individual visiting of residential buildings.

Starting from 26 October the activities on printing and provision of bar codes to identification cards of the voters have started. International ODIHR/OSCE observers Bjorg Hope Galtung ( Norway) and Bruno de Cordier ( Belgium) have arrived in the region in order to observe preparation for the Presidential Elections in the Republic of Kazakhstan and had a meeting with the representatives of the regional election commission, political parties and NGOs.

On 27 October the second comprehensive testing of Sailau electronic voting system was carried out in all 145 polling stations where it will be implemented. The regional election commission met with the specialists and operators of Sailau system to discuss testing results. Territorial election commissions continue activities on distribution of brochures for the voters. On 29 October Akim of the region met with the leaders of regional headquarters of Presidential Candidates N. Nazarbayev, E. Abylkasymov, A. Baimenov, M. Eleusizov and Zh. Tuyakbai in Ust-Kamenogorsk.The result of the meeting was signing of the Memorandum, where leaders of regional headquarters of Presidential Candidates took on the obligation to observe electoral legislation and not to use illegitimate “dirty” technologies on manipulating public awareness in Presidential election campaign. Besides this, meeting participants have obliged not to start the “war of discrediting materials” and not to distribute false materials about the competitors and act against all attempts or facts of using national/ethnic, clane, interracial problems in election and political fights.
