Working visit of CEC Member B. Meldeshov to East Kazakhstan Oblast

On May 28, 2019, during a working visit to East Kazakhstan Oblast, Member of the Central Election Commission Bakhyt Meldeshov held a workshop in the city of Ust-Kamenogorsk for election organizers themed “Activities of election commissions during the preparation and conduct of the early election of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, scheduled for June 9, 2019”. Preparations for the election in the region are being carried out properly in accordance with the Calendar Plan, and the voter lists were transferred by the relevant akims to the precinct election commissions.

All election commissions are provided with teaching materials, necessary equipment, communications, and Internet.

The workshop was attended by members of territorial and precinct election commissions, certified electoral trainers in the form of videoconferencing, representatives of the branch of the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, local executive bodies, law enforcement agencies, courts, and by local observers. In total, 1,470 people took part in the workshop.

During the workshop, B. Meldeshov briefed its participants on each stage of the election campaign, and responsibilities of election officials in accordance with the law. He focused on election campaigning during the election campaign, electoral training of members of election commissions of the oblast and the preparation of polling stations for the election.

Head of Akim’s Office of East Kazakhstan Oblast Zh. Sarsebayev reported on the work done to compile voter lists, and Deputy Head of the Department for Coordination of Employment and Social Programs M. Kussainov talked about the measures taken to ensure conditions for unimpeded voting of citizens with disabilities.

Chairperson of the East Kazakhstan Oblast Election Commission E. Nabiyev informed about the current situation in the oblast with regard to the organization and preparation of election commissions and polling stations for the voting day, training of election commission members using the cascade method and the method of distance learning and testing, as well as about measures taken to ensure conditions for unimpeded voting of citizens with disabilities.

Chief Consultant of the Central Election Commission B. Darmurzina dwelled on some issues of the activities of election commissions. The audience was shown a training film on the work of precinct election commissions on election day, prepared by the Central Election Commission.

At the end of the workshop, an exchange of views on the issues under consideration took place, and answers were given to questions.

After the workshop, representatives of the Central Election Commission together with members of the East Kazakhstan Oblast Election Commission visited the polling stations of the city of Ust-Kamenogorsk and the Ulansky District in order to check their preparation for the day of voting.
