Meeting of Chairperson of Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan Berik Imashev with Head of the SCO Observation Mission, SCO Secretary General Vladimir Norov
On June 4, 2019, the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan held a meeting of Chairperson of the Central Election Commission Berik Imashev with the Head of the SCO Observation Mission, the SCO Secretary General, Vladimir Norov.
One of the tasks of the SCO is to observe the presidential and parliamentary elections, as well as referendums. In connection with the early presidential election in the Republic of Kazakhstan, the SCO Observation Mission was created to review the preparation and conduct of the election.
The head of the Central Election Commission informed Mr. V. Norov on the preparations for the day of voting at the early election of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan. In turn, the SCO Secretary General, V. Norov thanked for organizing the meeting and stressed that the comparative analysis of the statements, conclusions and reports of the missions since 2004 suggests a substantial democratization of the electoral process in 2019.
He also noted that, while attaching special importance to the upcoming important political event in Kazakhstan, he believes that the election observation is a distinctive mission of the Organization.
After the meeting, a briefing was held, at which SCO Secretary General Vladimir Norov answered questions of interest to the media.
