Meeting of Chairperson of the Central Election Commission Berik Imashev with Head of the Observation Mission of the Commonwealth of Independent States Sergey Lebedev
On June 7, a meeting was held between Berik Imashev, Chairperson of the Central Election Commission, and Sergey Lebedev, Head of the Observation Mission of the Commonwealth of Independent States.
At the meeting, the CEC Chairperson briefed the CIS delegation on the process of preparing for the early election of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, scheduled for June 9, 2019.
Sergey Lebedev, in turn, noted that this CIS Mission, participating in election observation, is one of the largest in the CIS (with more than 421 Mission members).
The mission of CIS observers began its work in Kazakhstan on May 20, 2019. 20 long-term observers have been working starting from May 20, and the mission’s headquarters have been established. During this time, long-term observers managed to visit several oblasts, and organized observation points in all oblasts of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The Head of the Mission also noted positive observations, such as providing separate booths for people with disabilities, as well as ramps and other equipment at polling stations. Sergey Lebedev emphasized that the professional level of all participants in the electoral process has been growing noticeably.
At the end of the meeting, both sides wished each other mutual success.
