Global Election Day

February 6, 2020 marks the Global Election Day established under the General Conference of Election Officials, which took place on September 14-17, 2005 in Budapest.

An idea of the Association of European Election Officials (ACEEEO), Global Election Day is celebrated annually on the first Thursday of February.

In introducing the Global Election Day, professionals in charge of conducting elections sought to put a spotlight on the problem of ensuring the electoral rights of citizens and improving electoral processes.

The main goals of this day are to ingrain the irreversibility of the democratization process, to inform the public about the accomplishments in the electoral process, and to instill a commitment to democratic values in young voters.
