Sh. Shayakhmetova from the CEC of the Republic of Kazakhstan delivered a lecture at the Academy of Law Enforcement Agencies under the General Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Kazakhstan
On February 10, 2020, Sh. Shayakhmetova gave a lecture on “Elections as a mechanism for shaping government authorities in Kazakhstan” at the Academy of Law Enforcement Agencies under the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Kazakhstan as part of extension courses offered to law enforcement officers.
At the event, which involved young staff from regional divisions of the prosecutor's office, the lecturer shared detailed explanations of why the elections institute is important as a statutorily established mechanism of building public authority in ensuring the legitimacy of elected bodies in legislative and executive branches.
Referring to international and local experience in delivering elections, the lecturer revealed the role and significance of the political participation of citizens, public associations and parties in making the election process happen, as well as of the cooperation of electoral bodies with prosecution authorities in making sure citizens' voting rights are exercised in accordance with the laws of the country and international principles.
