Meeting of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan was held on August 7
On August 7, 2020 there was held a meeting of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan. During the meeting there were considered two issues:
1) “Accreditation of observers of an international organization for the election of deputies of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, scheduled for August 12, 2020”.
2) “Approval of the list of observers from the Republic of Kazakhstan to be sent to the elections of the President of the Republic of Belarus on August 9, 2020”.
The Chairman of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Mr. Berik Imashev, reminded that on July 24 of this year, based on the resolution of the Central Election Commission, there was opened the Institute of International Observation.
Mrs. Anastasia Shchegortsova, the member of the Central Election Commission, made a report related to "Accreditation of observers of an international organization for the elections of deputies of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, scheduled for August 12, 2020".
According to Article 20-2 of the Constitutional Act "On Elections in the Republic of Kazakhstan", the accreditation of observers of foreign states and international organizations is carried out by the Central Election Commission upon recommendation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In accordance with the electoral legislation the accreditation of the international observers had ended on August 6 at 6 pm.
Thus, within the framework of the election campaign of the deputies of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, upon recommendation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of August 6, 2020, the CEC of the Republic of Kazakhstan accredited 5 observers from the Cooperation Council of the Turkic-speaking States: 2 representatives of the Embassy of Azerbaijan and one representative each of the embassies of Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Turkey.
The CCTS observers’ mission will be headed by the Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Republic of Kazakhstan, Mr. Rashad Mammadov.
The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Yerzhan Ashikbayev, also spoke within the consideration of this issue; he said that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs sent letters of invitation and corresponding notes to observe the elections to the Senate of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the following international organizations: CIS, IPA, CCTS, TURKPA, and SCO.
Mr. Yerzhan Ashikbayev also noted that 143 representatives of foreign media are accredited under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan; according to the legislation on elections they can observe elections on an equal basis with international observers.
As part of the second issue of the meeting, the Chairman of the Central Election Commission, Mr, Berik Imashev, informed that this year on August 9 there will be held the next presidential elections.
In this regard, at the meeting of the CEC of the Republic of Kazakhstan there was brought up the issue regarding "Approval of the list of observers from the Republic of Kazakhstan sent to the elections of the President of the Republic of Belarus on August 9, 2020".
The Central Election Commission approved 5 candidates for observers from the Republic of Kazakhstan who shall take part in observing the elections in Belarus on August 9 of this year.
