“Readiness for the voting day of the elections of deputies of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan scheduled for August 12, 2020”
On August 10, 2020 the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan held a meeting with the purpose to discuss the issue of readiness for the voting day at the elections of deputies of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan scheduled for August 12, 2020.
The territorial election commissions of oblasts and the cities of Nur-Sultan, Almaty and Shymkent attended the meeting in the videoconferencing mode, while the media representatives participated the meeting online.
The Chairman of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Mr. Berik Imashev, informed that on August 10 at 12 am there ends the election campaign of candidates. Thus, according to the Calendar Plan, all pre-election events related to the organization and conduct of the voting day are completed.
In this regard, the meeting participants heard the information provided by the chairmen of the territorial election commissions of regions and the cities of Nur-Sultan, Almaty and Shymkent regarding their readiness for the voting day.
According to the data provided by the election commissions, 46 candidates were included in the ballots (after the registration 12 candidates submitted applications to withdraw their candidacy).
There are 4 candidates in the East Kazakhstan region, 3 candidates each in 10 regions: Akmola, Atyrau, West Kazakhstan, Karaganda, Kostanay, Kyzylorda, and Pavlodar regions, the cities of Nur-Sultan, Almaty, Shymkent. There are 2 candidates each in other regions.
The list of electors within the republic includes 3069 Maslikhat deputies. The largest numbers are in Almaty and East Kazakhstan region (Almaty – 317, East Kazakhstan – 301), and the smallest numbers are in the cities of Nur-Sultan – 21, Shymkent – 26, and Almaty – 32.
Mr. Berik Imashev stressed that considering the sanitary and epidemiological situation in the regions all the necessary measures have been taken to ensure the sanitary safety of the electoral process.
Also, on the election day through the Internet resource of the Central Election Commission, there will be functioning the online monitoring services for the registration of electors and the summing up of preliminary voting results, which will ensure transparency and publicity of the electoral process.
