Meeting of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan with the Mission of Observers from the Cooperation Council of the Turkic-speaking States
On August 11, 2020 the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan met with the Mission of Observers from the Cooperation Council of the Turkic-Speaking States, headed by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Republic of Kazakhstan, Mr. Rashad Mammadov.
During the meeting the Deputy Chairman of the Central Election Commission, Mr. Konstantin Petrov briefed the observers on the activities of the Central Election Commission related to the organization of the elections of deputies of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan; he also gave a detailed account about the peculiarities of the election campaign and the preparations for the voting day amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Mr. Rashad Mammadov, in his turn, thanked for the invitation to take part in the observation of the elections and noticed that representatives of the Cooperation Council of the Turkic-speaking States have extended positive experience of working in Kazakhstan, including related to the election of Senate deputies.
At the end of the meeting both sides wished each other success in their work.
The agreement on the establishment of the Cooperation Council of the Turkic-speaking states (CCTS or Turkic Council) was signed upon the initiative of Elbasy – N.A. Nazarbayev on October 3, 2009 in the city of Nakhichevan (Republic of Azerbaijan) at the IX Summit of the Heads of the Turkic-speaking states. Currently Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Turkey are the members of the CCTS. Hungary is the observing country.
