The Online Academic Competition "Election systems of the countries of the world" among students of Kazakhstan universities starts on September 29, 2020
On September 29 of the current year based on the Internet platform of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan there started the first round of the Online Academic Competition "Electoral Systems of the World" among students of Kazakhstan universities organized jointly with the Association of Kazakhstan Universities and the International Institute for Monitoring the Development of Democracy, Parliamentarism and Observance of the Electoral Rights of Citizens of the IPA CIS Member States.
The online academic competition is a qualifying stage of an international project and is aimed at increasing the legal culture of young voters, familiarizing them with the basics of the democratic electoral process, and forming their knowledge for the implementation of electoral rights.
The online academic competition is held in two stages:
- 1 stage – online-testing for: electoral systems of the countries of the world, electoral systems of the CIS member states, electoral system of Kazakhstan(September 29, 2020, 10 am – 4:00 pm);
- 2 stage - interactive competition "Best Debater" (September 30, 2020).
155 students from 32 universities of Kazakhstan applied for participation in the first round.
The winner of the Online Academic Competition will take part in the International Scientific Debates in St. Petersburg (at the expense of the organizers) as part the CIS national team in December of this year.
According to the Regulations on the online academic competition the determination of the winner and two prize-winners is entrusted to the National Jury, which included representatives of the CEC of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Association of universities of Kazakhstan, as well as the scientific and expert community in the field of constitutional law and electoral legislation.
The results of the online academic competition shall be published on the Internet resource of the CEC of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The project participants will be given the certificates.
