A meeting of the leadership of the CEC of the Republic of Kazakhstan with the OSCE/ODIHR expert group was held
On April 12, 2022, the leadership of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan met with an expert group of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) led by Deputy Head of ODIHR Election Department Ulvi Akhundlu.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Chairman of the Central Election Commission Konstantin Petrov, Secretary of the Central Election Commission Mukhtar Erman, member of the CEC of the Republic of Kazakhstan Sabila Mustafina.
During the meeting, the members of the ODIHR expert group were acquainted with conceptual foundations of new political reforms including in terms of the proposed modernization of the electoral process which were announced in the Address of the Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to the people of Kazakhstan "New Kazakhstan: the Path of Renewal and Modernisation" dated 16 March 2022.
In addition, some provisions and recommendations of the Mission of the Office for Observation of the Parliamentary Elections in the Republic of Kazakhstan in 2021 in terms of organizing the electoral process were discussed.
As a result of the meeting an agreement was reached to continue a systematic and regular dialogue, expand areas of cooperation between the CEC of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the OSCE/ODIHR in order to deepen bilateral partnership on electoral issues.
