The Central Election Commission established results of the election of a deputy of the Senate of the Parliament from the Almaty region instead of the retired one held on April 22, 2022
On April 26 this year a meeting of the Central Election Commission was held under the chairmanship of Nurlan Abdirov.
Timur Dautov, Chairman of the Almaty Regional Electoral Commission, took part in the meeting via videoconferencing.
Deputy Chairman of the CEC Konstantin Petrov made a report on the results of the elections.
According to the speaker, 346 deputies (96.64%) out of 358 deputies of the Almaty region took part in the voting. 2 candidates ran for deputies of the Senate.
On election day there were online monitoring services for the registration of electors and summarizing the preliminary results of voting through the Internet resource of the Central Election Commission. Thus, the transparency and publicity of the electoral process was ensured. This process was promptly covered through the information channels of the CEC of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The Central Election Commission adopted a resolution «On the establishment and publication of the results of the election of a deputy of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan from Almaty region instead of the retired one, held on April 22, 2022».
In accordance with Articles 9, 12, 44 and 81 of the Constitutional Act "On Elections in the Republic of Kazakhstan", on the basis of the protocol of the Almaty Regional Electoral Commission on the results of the counting of votes for the election of a deputy of the Senate of the Parliament from the Almaty Region instead of the retired one, the following election results were established:
- Gulmira Akhmetova received 47 votes or 13.58 percent of votes of the electors who took part in the voting;
- Zhanbolat Zhorgenbayev received 294 votes or 84.97 percent of votes of the electors who took part in the voting.
Thus, Zhanbolat Zhorgenbayev was elected as a deputy of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The term of office of an elected deputy is until June 2023 (for the term of office of deputies elected on June 28, 2017).
In accordance with Article 44 of the Constitutional Act "On Elections in the Republic of Kazakhstan" the official announcement of the CEC on results of the election of a deputy of the Senate of Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan from Almaty region instead of the retired one held on April 22, 2022 will be published in the media.
