A meeting of the CEC of the Republic of Kazakhstan with delegation from OSCE/ODIHR was held
On June 23, 2022 the Chairman of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nurlan Abdirov met with Matteo Mecacci, the Director of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights.
The Secretary of the Central Election Commission of Kazakhstan Mukhtar Yerman, as well as Fabrizio Nava, Senior Political Advisor - Head of the Office of the OSCE/ODIHR Director, and Carolyn Hammer, OSCE/ODIHR Rule of Law Officer, took part in the meeting.
Head of the Central Election Commission of Kazakhstan Nurlan Abdirov thanked the OSCE/ODIHR for its deployment and its participation in observing the referendum in the Republic of Kazakhstan, which was held on June 5, 2022.
In his turn, OSCE/ODIHR Director Matteo Mecacci thanked for close cooperation and support of the Referendum Observation Mission, for high level of transparency of the Central Election Commission as well as for the provided opportunity for the first time in the last 12 years to discuss some provisions and recommendations of the Final Report of the Observation Mission for the Parliamentary Elections in the Republic of Kazakhstan in 2021 in substantive and professional manner.
Also during the meeting, they discussed the issues of improving the electoral system of the Republic of Kazakhstan, expanding cooperation between the CEC of Kazakhstan and the OSCE/ODIHR.
At the end of the meeting the parties confirmed readiness for further enhancement of expert cooperation of the CEC with the OSCE/ODIHR both during organization and preparation, and in the period between election campaigns.
