A meeting of the Central Election Commission on registration of
K.Tokayev as a candidate for the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan was
held
On October 12, 2022, a meeting of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan on registering Kassym-Jomart Tokayev as a candidate for the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan was held under the chairmanship of Nurlan Abdirov.
Secretary of the Central Election Commission Mukhtar Yerman made a report on the agenda item. He said that on October 7, 2022, documents on the nomination of candidate for the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan K. Tokayev were submitted from a number of republican public associations. To register a candidate, the following documents were also submitted to the Central Election Commission:
- certificate of the state revenue authority on the submission of declarations of assets and liabilities by candidate for President K. Tokayev;
- a medical report on the absence of diseases that prevent the registration of presidential candidate K.Tokayev;
- protocols of territorial election commissions of regions, cities of republican significance and the capital of the Republic on the results of verification of the collected signatures of citizens in support of presidential candidate K.Tokayev.
According to these protocols, the authorised persons in support of presidential candidate K.Tokayev collected signatures from 399,809 citizens in all 20 regions of Kazakhstan.
In connection with the achievement of the threshold of the required number of reliable signatures in support of the candidate for the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan (at least 118,273 signatures, Resolution of the CEC of the Republic of Kazakhstan No. 69/549), the verification was terminated.
All documents required for registration of K.Tokayev as a presidential candidate, were submitted to the Central Election Commission and fully comply with the requirements for them.
By resolution of the CEC of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev was registered as a candidate for the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the early elections of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan scheduled for November 20, 2022, and a corresponding certificate was issued.
Following the meeting of the Central Election Commission, a briefing was held with the participation of representatives of the media.
