Nurlan Abdirov checked the work of referendum commissions
of Karaganda region and Astana
25 September, the Chairman of the Central Referendum Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nurlan Abdirov visited Karaganda region within the framework of preparation and conducting of the republican referendum, scheduled for 6 October 2024, with an inspection trip.
The CRC Chairman visited polling stations No.792 and No.794, where he has been informed about the preparations for the voting day. Emphasis was placed on the issues of their equipment and creation of comfortable conditions for the voters.
Nurlan Abdirov conducted the meeting with the participation of the chairmen of territorial referendum commissions, heads of law enforcement and other state bodies, where the main specifics of the upcoming campaign, readiness for the republican referendum, issues of ensuring publicity and transparency, as well as respect for the rule of law at all stages of the electoral process were discussed.
The Deputy Akim of the region Alibek Aldeney reported on the work carried out in the region to clarify the list of citizens eligible to participate in the referendum and material and technical support of the campaign, the Deputy Prosecutor of the region Talgat Mukashev reported on upholding the rule of law during the voting period and the Head of the Police Department of Karaganda region Negmet Ismagulov informed about the need for control of public order during the campaign and on the voting day. Also, the Head of the Department for Coordination of Employment and Social Programs Assem Junuspekova and the Chairman of the Karaganda Region TRC Kairat Nurkenov reported on the work done.
There are 650 precinct commissions in the region, which consists of 4440 members. In the region registered 761604 voters, among them 4605 are persons with disabilities. For them all conditions provided for the voting. Informing residents through social networks, messengers, special online services have been launched. Fifteen call centers have been opened, and operates the 109 service.
On 26 September in Astana, the CRC Chairman conducted a similar meeting with members of TRC of Astana and city districts, representatives of government and law enforcement agencies, where he heard their reports on the ongoing work in the preparation for the upcoming plebiscite.
Nurlan Abdirov explained to the meeting participants the legislative novelties and specifics of the preparation for the republican referendum. He also emphasized the importance of strict compliance with the norms of the referendum and electoral legislation, continuous and quality training of all members of commissions.
The Deputy Akim of the city Yeset Baiken reported on the ongoing work with the lists of citizens eligible to participate in the referendum, organizational, informational, material and technical support of the referendum. Head of the Department of Employment and Social Protection of Astana Ilya Skub informed about the physical accessibility of polling stations and the realization of the electoral rights of persons with disabilities.
The deputy heads of the city prosecutor's office and the Police Department reported. The Chairman of the Territorial Referendum Commission of Astana Beisembai Zhumabekov reported on the activities of the referendum commissions and readiness for the voting day.
In both regions, the CRC Head drew special attention of local executive bodies to uninterrupted provision of electricity and Internet, and of internal affairs bodies to protection of public order at polling stations and surrounding territories during the voting day.
During the meetings, Nurlan Abdirov instructed the territorial referendum commissions to provide full information to residents and emphasized the importance of door-to-door delivery and handing personal invitations to the voters by the members of precinct commissions.
In the visited regions, Nurlan Abdirov also conducted separate meetings with the members of territorial referendum commissions.
The day before, the CRC Chairman visited polling stations in each district of the capital and was informed about the preparations for the voting, he paid special attention to the issues of its equipment and creation of comfortable conditions for the voters and on ensuring the electoral rights of persons with disabilities.
