The Central Election Commission Congratulated on the 30th Anniversary of
the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan
A solemn event dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan was held at the Central Election Commission.
Opening the ceremony, Chairman of the CEC Nurlan Abdirov emphasized the historical significance of the Constitution, adopted on August 30, 1995, by national referendum:
“Today we celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Constitution – the Fundamental Law that became a solid foundation of Independence and a symbol of the unity of the people. The Constitution enshrined the highest values – human rights and freedoms, justice, and the rule of law.
Over three decades it has undergone a process of development and reform, reflecting Kazakhstan’s steady progress toward democracy and the rule of law.
During this period, more than 40 nationwide electoral campaigns have been conducted in the country. Among them – six presidential elections and eight elections of deputies of the Mazhilis. In addition, four national referendums were held, ensuring the people’s opportunity to express their political will. Elections of all akims of rural districts were also carried out.
These steps are clear evidence of the establishment of democratic traditions in the country and the strengthening of electoral institutions.”
On the eve of the anniversary, members of the CEC and several staff members were awarded the jubilee medal “30 Years of the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan” for their contribution to the development of the country’s electoral system
.
The solemn gathering concluded with an oath-taking ceremony by staff members entering public service for the first time. The young civil servants of the CEC solemnly pledged to faithfully serve the people.
